Register for this free to attend event at Biocity Nottingham. Our opening speaker is Jayne Wainwright from Potter Clarkson, who will be sharing with us some of the history of the use of Cannabis sativa/Cannabidiol and the commercial opportunity that may be available. It will be a different perspective but I am confident it will stimulate thought and questions.

BULGARIA: Medical Marijuana subsidiary Kannaway has been granted Bulgaria’s first authorisation for free sale and distribution of its imported hemp-derived CBD products as food supplements (also approved for export to Turkey). These are Kannaway Power Protein, a hemp seed protein-containing meal replacement powder for muscle building and fat loss, Kannaway Pure Gold full spectrum CBD oil, Kannaway Humulus oil (non-cannabis derived CBD oil) and Kannaway Super Greens powder that can be added to food or drinks (hemp protein and 40+ superfood / nutrient-dense ingredients for general and digestive health).
Comment: CBD’s status in Europe remains unclear. In January 2019, EFSA amended the Novel Food Catalogue entry for cannabinoids to: “… extracts of Cannabis sativa L. and derived products containing cannabinoids are considered novel foods as a history of consumption has not been demonstrated”. However, the catalogue “… serves as orientation on whether a product will need an authorisation under the Novel Food Regulation”; Member States may restrict the marketing of a product through specific legislation.
It remains a changing and challenging space.
